Description

Title : "Measurement of the Top-quark Mass from the b Jet Energy Spectrum"
Speaker Name: Francisco Yumiceva
Speaker Institution : Florida Institute of Technology
Abstract: Precise measurements of the top-quark mass are crucial to test current and new theories of particle physics. I will present a recent measurement of the top-quark mass using the peak position of the energy distribution of b jets from top-quark decays. This analysis is based on a recent theoretical idea that is simpler but complementary to the standard methods. The measurement is performed in dileptons events with one electron and one muon in the final state in pp collision data at sqrt(s)= 8 TeV collected by the CMS experiment.
