Maryland physicists are exploring the burgeoning field of spintronics, where active control of both spin and charge dynamics of electrons in solids leads to new phenomena and functionalities. The study of topics such as spin relaxation and spin transport is both answering fundamental physics questions and providing applications to the micro-electronics industry.
