Title: A New Concept for Axion Dark Matter Detection


Abstract: I discuss a new approach to search for axion dark matter with a superconducting radio frequency cavity. Our idea exploits axion-induced transitions between nearly degenerate resonant modes. Compared to traditional detection strategies, this allows for parametrically enhanced signal power for axions lighter than a GHz (~micro-eV). The projected sensitivity covers about two orders of magnitude in axion mass on the QCD line. It is also sensitive to new parameter space for about fifteen orders of magnitude in mass, down to the fuzzy dark matter limit.
