Title: Transverse spin structure of octet baryons using Lattice QCD

Speaker Institution: The University of Adelaide
Abstract: The transverse spin structure of matter is a subject of research that has not been thoroughly explored experimentally, providing the opportunity to produce key insight from lattice QCD. These transverse spin densities are revealed through an analysis of the electromagnetic and tensor form factors of the octet baryons with pion masses as low as 220 MeV. Using the SU(3) flavour-breaking effects of the form factors allows extrapolation to the physical mass. Constructing combinations of Fourier transformed form factors reveal non-trivial spin densities in the infinite momentum transverse plane, with similar deformations across the baryon octet.
