Title: Engineering Immunology usingChemistry and Data Science
Abstract: Chemical and biological function depends on the interplaybetween the system and its surrounding where the outcomedepends on the context of the problem, typically identified by itsenvironment. How do you represent the context for system andsurroundings at different scales ranging from atoms to cells? How do you develop molecules with specific properties ranging fromcontrolling reactivity to developing immunomodulators as drugleads? How to teach computers to do this by combining physicalmodeling, principles of data science, autonomous measurementsand instrumentation? How to target immune cell function indifferent environments using chemical biology and bioanalyticalchemistry? I will give an overview of my research programin Chemical and Cellular Immunology with selected examples toaddress the above questions including descriptions of chemicaltools and interpretable machine learning models with prospectiveexperimental validation in situ, in vitro and in vivo.
