Abstract: We discuss extensions of the Standard Model of particle physics where baryon number is promoted to a local symmetry. We investigate the dark matter and collider phenomenology of the minimal models. Further, we focus on the embedding of local baryon number in non-Abelian gauge symmetries. We present a model based on SU(4)_C x SU(3)_L x SU(3)_R which can be realized at low scales and tested at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) with exotic signatures such as stable fractional charged particles and R-hadrons.
