Spencer Gessner, SLAC Â Title: High-Intensity Lasers for Future Colliders
Abstract: The P5 Report identifies the need for a near-term Higgs Factory followed by a 10 TeV parton center-of-mass collider. These facilities will elucidate the Standard Model of particle physics and provide opportunities to discover new physics beyond the TeV scale. High-intensity lasers are a key technology that enables Linear Colliders to reach extreme collision energies and luminosities. Lasers are critical components for both circular and linear Higgs Factories. In this talk, I will describe a university research program that includes the acceleration of positrons in laser-driven plasma wakefields, electron-photon collisions as a first step toward gamma-gamma colliders, and electron-laser interactions to study non-linear QED physics relevant to the large beamstrahlung environments that occur in Linear Colliders. I will conclude with novel laser technologies that can be used to improve the performance of the FCC at CERN. Â Hosted by Howard Milchberg
