General Relativity Experiment
Maryland’s experimental gravity group carries out precision gravity experiments and develops highly sensitive gravity sensors. Our transducer is now reading out signals from Allegro at Louisiana State University, the only remaining resonant-mass gravitational-wave detector in the US. Our future experimentation includes the development of a gradiometer that will have an impact upon the fields of geophysics, resources exploration and navigation. In addition, we are collecting and analyzing data from the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO) as part of the LIGO Scientific Collaboration.
