Title: Pseudo Parton Distributions from Lattice QCD
Speaker: Joseph Karpie, College of William and Mary
Abstract: Parton Distribution Functions (PDFs) are important objects for interpreting the hadronic scattering experiments in terms of the Standard Model particles. PDFs are used to relate hadron degrees of freedom and parton degrees of freedom and by definition cannot be calculated in perturbation theory. In recent years, there have been many proposals of how to extract PDFs from lattice calculable matrix elements. Pseudo-PDFs and Good Lattice Cross Sections are two such methods involving matrix elements of space-like separated fields. Analogous to phenomenological PDF extraction from experimental cross sections, these matrix elements can be factorized into hard partonic parts and PDFs. I will show a lattice calculation of these matrix elements and the methods being developed to extract the PDF from these calculations.
