Title: Strongly Anisotropic Magnetism in Heavy Fermion-like Material
Abstract: The BaAl4 parent crystal structure with the space group: I4/mmm, is at the head of a family of compounds with various novel states, like nematic superconductors, topological semimetals, heavy fermion materials, and noncentrosymmetric superconductors. Despite a plethora of well-studied compounds, many still deserve further detailed investigation. In this talk, we report on synthesis of a Ce-Zn-Ga ternary compound in this space group and the differing properties between various batches of grown single crystals. We performed powder neutron scattering experiments to refine the structural composition of several batches and compare the results to previous reports on the Ce-Zn-Ga ternary compound.
