As testing resumes at the Large Hadron Collider this year, several university researchers will take part in the next round of research at the world’s biggest particle collider.
Jordan Goodman, B.S. ’73, M.S. '75, Ph.D. '78, Professor, University of Maryland, was awarded the 2015 Physics Distinguished Alumnus Award.
James Drake's paper, "Magnetized jets driven by the sun: the structure of the heliosphere revisited," suggests that the sun's magnetic field controls the large-scale shape of the heliosphere much more than expected. It was published in Astrophysical Journal Letters.
Nathan Ng, who works with physics professors Paulo Bedaque, Bill Dorland and Victor Galitski, has been named a Goldwater Scholar.
