The goals of the University of Maryland Physics Department's QURiSE Conference are centered on helping undergraduates meet the challenges of quantum career pathways, graduate school opportunities, and workforce readiness.
Undergraduates involved in quantum research from around the country are invited to attend QURiSE.
Participants will have the opportunity to present their research, learn from experts, and engage with industry professionals. The conference schedule includes dedicated time for students to form networks with peers, mentors, and potential employers in order to establish immediate job readiness and competitiveness for PhD programs.

Welcome to the Quantum Undergraduate Research in Science & Engineering (QURiSE) conference application. Please note that QURiSE provides meals and lodging. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the conference. The conference registration fee is $100. We look forward to receiving your application information.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. The conference fee will be collected after email notification of confirmed registration. Applications for QURISE will close January 9th, 2026.

Schedule
The conference location is the College Park Marriott Hotel & Conference Center (3501 University Blvd E, Hyattsville, MD 20783). Quantum at UMD attendees arrive any time after 4 PM Thursday, January 22nd. Activities will begin Friday morning. QURiSE attendees arrive Friday, January 23rd. Check-in begins at 4 PM. The conference concludes Sunday, January 25th, at 5 PM.
Friday, January 23rd
Friday begins with the Quantum at UMD program in the morning, featuring welcome remarks followed by center and institute visits. The afternoon continues with a lunch with experts and graduate research panels. In the evening, QURiSE officially begins with a welcome reception, dinner, and a banquet speaker.
Saturday, January 24th
Saturday, QURiSE begins with breakfast, followed by research talks. In the afternoon, attendees will enjoy lunch while participating in mentoring sessions, followed by attending one of the parallel workshops. The afternoon continues with industry speakers and panel discussions. In the evening, QURiSE continues with the research poster competition accompanied by refreshments, leading into the banquet dinner, and undergraduate student research talks.
Sunday, January 25th
Sunday, QURiSE begins with breakfast, followed by research talks. In the afternoon, attendees will enjoy lunch while participating in mentoring sessions. The afternoon continues with lab tours, a choice of workshops and panels, and the conclusion of the QURiSE conference.

Welcome to the QURiSE Poster Competition and Quantum Talks Registration
QURiSE seeks to highlight the outstanding quantum research conducted by undergraduate students. There are two opportunities to present: The poster competition and the Undergraduate Quantum Talks. All attendees are encouraged to participate.

The abstract submission template can be found in the link below. Please follow the instructions closely in order to be included in the abstract booklet.
Undergraduate Quantum Talks
QURiSE invites 6 undergraduate quantum research speakers. The talks will be ten minute presentations on your research.
The deadline for abstract submission for posters and talks is January 9, 2026. The earlier we hear from you, the better.
