Jonhpierre Paglione's research group has shown yet another manner by which the ubiquitous superconducting state in the intermetallic '122' iron-arsenide materials can be stabilized.
College Park, Md. -- The U.S. Commerce Department's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) announced Friday that it is awarding $15.5 million to the University of Maryland to develop and implement a national NIST measurement science and engineering fellowship program. The new fellowship program was funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
Johnpierre Paglione was awarded a NSF CAREER grant for MilliKelvin Magnetic Field-Angle-Resolved of Quantum Materials. His goal is to develop an experimental platform capable of probing the symmetry and anisotropic nature of quantum materials by measuring heat capacity and other thermal properties in large fully rotatable magnetic fields and at temperatures approaching absolute zero.
