Hassan Jawahery is a Distinguished University Professor and the Gus T. Zorn Professor of Physics. He received his Ph.D. in Physics from Tufts University in 1981. He leads the UMD research group on Flavor Physics and CP Violation. He was one of the founding members of the BaBar experiment, served as it Physics Analysis Coordinator (2001-2002), and its Spokesperson (2006-2008). He is now a member of the LHCb experiment at the LHC collider at CERN. He was elected a Fellow of the American Physical Society in 2004 and the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 2010.
